Advert 1: Nando's

The first advert that I analysed was the 'It's ok' advert from Nando's. When I analysed this I realised it's purpose was to inform and raise brand awareness about Nando's. The message in the advert was trying to make people aware of Nando's and the foods they sell and explain that everyone's welcome. It doesn't really have a persuasive content and also it doesn't promote special offers.

The voiceover is used by having a male with Portuguese accent that is jokey and creates a stereotype. The voice tries to use humour in the script by saying some statements that suggests something alternative for example, "if you are a traffic of the warden...it's okay." This allows the listeners to relate and understand the relaxed feeling of the advert. It will cheer the listeners up and attract them to go to Nando's.
The slogan / tag line they use is 'It's ok.'. I think the reason why they use that is because it reassures the listeners that everything will be ok, no matter what their situation.
The product name is introduced roughly after 3 seconds which is quite early on in the advert. This shows they are trying to raise awareness of the company.
The music is used for 15 to 16 seconds of the advert, it is mariachi music which is quite cheery happy and stereotypical of Portugal. It promotes positive feelings to the listeners. There are no other sound effects in this advert.
This advert does not have specific unique selling point because it is just advertising Nando's but doesn't have anything major that makes it stand out.

This advert has a regulatory issue to consider, this is the accents they used because it is a Portuguese accent and it is someone who is putting on the accent, this could be seen as borderline offensive to Portuguese people. On this occasion that the accent has been allowed however the producers of this advert would have had to have followed the guidelines from the Radio Advertising Clearing Centre (RACC) which states, "When different nationalities or regional accents are used in advertisement scenarios, care is needed so as not to cause offence by negative stereotyping or by ridiculing the relevant county, region or racial group."
